ALAWODE MOURNS LATE OLUBADAN, DESCIBED HIM AS A PATIENT LEADER AND AN EPITOME OF GREATNESS 

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode has expressed his grief over the demise of Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli Okumade 11, described the monarch as a patient leader and an epitome of Greatness who has sustained peaceful coexistence between indigenes and residents of Ibadanland. 
The council boss, while paying glowing tribute to late Olubadan, noted that the 42nd Olubadan made great marks in Ibadanland in just a little over two years of his reign.
Arole Omituntun affirmed that the loss of the  Monarch leaves a huge void in Ibadan community. His dedication to his people and his commitment to the region will always be remembered. His achievements and contribution to the development of Ibadan and Nigeria as a whole will be a treasured legacy for future generations.
Hon. Alawode extends his condolences to oyo State Government, Olori and the entire Oba Balogun’s family, the Olubadan-in-Council, Traditional Council and the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large.
He prayed to God to grant repose to the soul of the deceased monarch.
Born in 1942, Oba Lekan Balogun, who was a Fourth Republic Senator, represented Oyo Central senatorial district between 1999 and 2003, ascended the throne on March 11, 2022, after the demise of Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Oguguniso III, thus reigns for only two years as the monarch of the ancient Nigerian city. 
He was an academic and a politician before he ascended the throne in 2022.
Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun was a lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and was later elected to represent Oyo Central Senatorial District between 1999 and 2003.
The first-class monarch died at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan a few hours after he was admitted into the tertiary health facility on Thursday night.
